Our gardens and backyards are not utilized enough. Sure they can be places for your kids to play. They may be a great choice for entertaining your friends with a BBQ or drinks. But why don’t we take advantage of it when it comes to getting a bit of peace and tranquility back in our lives. The garden, when you think about it, is the perfect choice for that. The fresh air, the quiet. So with that in mind, I thought I would share with you a quick guide how you can get a place of peace and tranquility just for you. With the added convenience of just stepping outside.
Keep the place tidy
The first thing your garden or area must be is tidy. You won’t be able to relax if there is a lot of mess around. While I appreciate your garden and backyard may have multiple uses, try and put in some measures to keep things under control. Perhaps consider getting a shed to tidy things away, or at least one of those outdoor storage boxes. They can keep things tidy that way and make sure you get to relax your mind.
Pick your spot
Pick your special spot carefully. You want the place to be a relaxing zen. Try and avoid being too close to the road or footpaths if you can help it. Maybe pick a spot that you know is a little sun trap. Or if you prefer somewhere a little more shaded amongst the trees. This needs to be a place where you can unwind after a busy day, or bring yourself round in the morning. Peacefully, without any distractions.
Comfortable surroundings and furniture
Once you have your space picked out, then the next thing is to think about the furniture or comfortable surroundings. You may want to consider a chair or something a little different like parachute nylon hammocks. Whatever you decide I am sure it needs to be what helps you relax. So if you prefer to sit up or lying down, take that into account.
Think about lighting for night
Another thing to consider would be when you best to use this little space of yours. If you find that it may be at night, you may want to consider adding some lighting. You could use candles. Or perhaps add some solar lights that will automatically come on at dusk. They can create a low level lighting that can be relaxing but still allow you to see what you are doing.
Keep it warm
Finally, you may find that the temperature is cooler in a morning or at night. So you may want to think about what other options you have. You might want to consider a fire pit that will let off a lot off heat. These are also great for cooking little snacks on. Or you may want to use one of those patio heaters. This will enable you to get more use out of it throughout the year.
I hope this has inspired you to create a little place of peace and tranquility in your backyard.
