DIY Privacy Window Film Project

windows

We just moved into a new house recently and upon putting up curtains in all the rooms I realized I wasn’t sure what I was going to do with the windows near one of the doors.  I remembered seeing or hearing something about window clings or stickers that can be put on windows for privacy so I went on the search to find something pretty but also would do the trick of not letting anyone see in the windows at night since we live in the City.

What I used:

  • Floral Window Privacy Film
  • Scissors
  • Ruler
  • Dry Wash cloth

Now this was pretty simple which is great because I am in no way crafty lol. I first lined the film up to one of the windows and marked off where I would need to cut. After marking them I put them on a flat surface, used a ruler to make a straight line, marked it again then cut. The directions on the film were pretty easy and after cutting the 6 pieces I needed I peeled off the backing placed on the window and used a dry wash cloth to rub the film onto the window. Some pieces were a little tricky because bubbles can happen underneath but it was very easy to peel off and make sure it didn’t have any bubbles when finished.

Now I have a pretty white floral film covering each one of the windows and I think it came out pretty good. =)

What kind of projects have you done to your windows? Have you used privacy film before? What pattern did you get? =)

Thanks for visiting WEMAKE7! =)

This is a great idea. I don’t have any windows in my entry way but if I did I would want to do this too.

I did something like this but I used regular frosted contact paper. I put them on our bathroom window, our front door window and the windows in our mud room. Works great. Looks good but still lets light in. I love it. I really love the floral paper you used.

We had similar “frosting” stickers when I was little on our front door, then we had small shutters so we could open them and see who was outside. My parents recently put up some sticker type material on their windows that allows them to see out and no one to see in, but
I can’t remember where they got it. Glad you found a solution!

Smart and cute idea to give yourself privacy through the windows, I love the flower pattern you chose.

I definitely have thought about doing this to our patio door! But it’s so big, I doubt it would turn out well. Yours looks great!

You chose such a pretty film! I have done this DIY for my bathroom windows!

That is VERY cool! I have a ton of windows that would look cool on and living in an older home means I have a TON of windows and they are all very invasive so this would be prefect! Thanks for the awesome tip!
