I love this time of year! Not for the bitter cold of course but for Christmas. =) I love decorating inside and outside our home and shopping for gifts for my kiddos. Knowing that my younger kiddos love to read and have books read to them we always make sure to buy them a few to read each night before Christmas and also as gifts for Christmas morning.

Just recently we received a copy of National Geographic Kids Hey Baby!: A Collection of Pictures, Poems, and Stories from Nature’s Nursery and I have to say this book caught my eye because of all of the cute babies on the front cover. 😉

In each section you will find a poem and a photo gallery of “more itty bitty babies” called a Tot Lot. In between are profiles and pictures of each animal, along with special stories of unusual animal friendships, animals rescue, and global folktales.

  • Baby porcupines are called porcupettes.
  • Sea otters sometimes hold each others hands while sleeping.
  • Baby koalas and baby kangaroos are both called joeys.
  • Meerkats are great babysitters.

The babies are super cute and being Christmastime we just had to find the Reindeer in the book. 😉 This book is very beautiful and well illustrated. I think any kiddo that loves animals would really enjoy this hardcover book.

How cute is that! I would love sharing this book with one of the little ones in my family. My dad used to buy me an NG book every Christmas for us to read together. It was one of our shared loves.

  • Beach Hut Cook

What a lovely book. So informative and I am sure my boys would look at that for hours and hours.

  • OhNikka

This sounds like a great book to and to the collection! I still love catching the various shows too.

  • Alison Rost

What a wonderful collection from National Geographic! My father collects them and they’re my favorite magazines to read. I especially loved the monkey mom with her little one. Fun to celebrate moms and babies (with or without fur!). x

  • Shannon Graham

I love looking at baby animals. My niece would love this!

Who doesn’t love looking at baby animals! I’d like this book! I like books that educate and entertain and this does both.

  • This sounds like a wonderful book to add to our collection. My kids are really interested in animals. I think they’d love to see all the pictures in this book.

  • National Geographic seem to do some of the most lovely books and that Sloth on the front! ADORABLE!

  • First thing I saw was that baby sloth and my heart went “thump, thump.” I know so many people that would love to receive this book for the holidays!

  • Candy Kage

My daughter does 24 days of books leading up to Christmas. This book would be great for them to learn, she would have to read it to them at first.

  • My daughter loves sloths, so the fact that a baby sloth is in this book makes it a winner. I’ll have to get this for her!

  • Tomi_C

They’re all so cute. That baby lamb is just the cutest though. My kids love Nat Geo Kids books so we may have to add these to our library.

  • This book sounds like something my daughter would love. She’s all about animals. Especially baby animals.

  • Alli Smith

The baby Panda is adorable! I’d love looking at this book as much as my grandkids would. It would make a great Christmas gift as well.
