Juice Fast Day 3!

Juice_Fast_Day_3, Juice Fast, Joe Cross, FAT SICK AND NEARLY DEAD Hey everyone! So today marked 3 days that my husband and I have been on our juice fast. To be honest I cannot believe I have had nothing to eat, nothing to chew on, crunch on, nadda just strictly juice. When I say juice I’m not talking juice from a carton from the store I’m talking using a juicer and putting multiple different types of veggies and fruits to get the juice.

After watching Fat Sick and Nearly Dead about Joe Cross my husband and I decided to embark on this adventure.

JuiceFastDay3

I have to say this has been pretty intense! Can’t eat anything! The effects so far have been for my husband and I:

  • Headaches! This has been our complaint since day 2- I’m assuming that it is part of a caffeine withdrawal. Some of you may know how bad that feels.
  • Naseau and close to vomiting! On day 2 it was really bad for me.
  • Fatigue and Blahness!- Day 2 again, was really rough! My husband still feels out of it but I have found myself with a little extra energy today day 3.
  • Diarrhea/Constipation- I’ve been going a lot and my hubby can’t go. Go figure! Sorry I know TMI but it’s all part of this experience.

I have to admit I feel pretty full drinking the juice. I have 16oz of juice 3 times a day. I’m not even sure if that is enough but I do not feel hungry in between those times. I do drink a couple of glasses a water each day as well.  Something that has been a pain in the butt is having to clean the fruits and veggies and clean the juicer 3 times a day! So far it has been pretty time-consuming but I know it will be worth it.

Since my husband has diabetes we’ve been checking his blood sugars multiple times a day to make sure it’s not getting too low. My husbands numbers are crazy and he has had doctors call him after blood work wondering how he is still alive. His numbers normally range from 280 all the way up the 400’s no joke! Now that he’s been doing this his numbers have ranged from 88 to 120. I think that is pretty awesome!

Thanks for stopping by and hope you come back and check out our Day 7 in a few days. =)

Looks like you guys are doing great sticking to the commitment you made. Be sure to drink the extra water – 3 16 oz glasses isn’t nearly enough fluid in a day.

I have often wondered if juice fast work or not. As I am a type 2 diabetes. I am glad the juice fast is working for your husband.

  • Erin

I’m SO proud of you! Making a change like that has to be hard, I’ve never succeeded in following through with a juice fast!

  • Jacqui Odell

I really need to try a juice fast. It may help me lose some weight.

  • Chrystal @ YUM eating

Wow. I have watched both of those Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead movies. And theres an update piece too. Very interesting. I think its great, but for me to be able to afford all the fruits and vegetables just for one day is not something I can manage at the moment. So, I stick to my green smoothies and eating clean as best as I can. I look forward to the rest of your progress.

I have always wanted to do a juice fast, so this post is awesome! Thanks for sharing!

I’m not sure If I could do this now! I love food. lol And the thought of vomiting is making me sick. 🙁 Good luck, hope it gets better!

  • Becky

I have tried a juice fast a couple of times and have never been able to get through it. The headaches were just too much for me. Good luck and I hope you guys make it through.

I miss juicing! I bought a juicer a couple months ago at Kohl’s, but it broke down within two weeks. Therefore, I had to return it. I guess I’ll have to find a better one someday. Good luck with your journey!

  • Marie

Oh wow you’re on day 3? Good job! I’ve always wanted to try juicing but I just can’t seem to find the time to do it. 🙁 Yeah, lazy excuse. Good luck on your journey! Just go for it!

  • Laura (Lauras Little House Tips)

Thank you for being so honest about the side effects. I’ve been curious as to the truth of a juicing. I would like to try it but I freely admit it scares me. I look forward to following you all the way to the end.

It sounds like it is going as well as can be expected with a juice fast. I know the headaches are part of the detoxing. Good luck on your journey to health! And with cleaning the juicer lol.

I am not sure I could do this. If I don’t have my pop I get migraines so bad I get sent to the hospital for it fluids. It’s bad. But I would love to do a juice fast. I really would, I may try and see. My body could use it and I could use the time to get off caffeine.

I decaffeinated myself years ago when I was pregnant with my first child and realized that caffeine was the cause of my headaches – going on and off. Now if I have caffeine and then go off, the headaches return. Hope you feel better soon.

  • Lisa @bitesforbabies

I know a few people who often follow a detox juice diet. I myself don’t know if I’d be able to survive on one, considering I’m hypoglycemic and need to eat (solid food) every few hours!

  • Stacie @ Divine Lifestyle

This is a really interesting series for me. I’ve always heard that juice fasts were good for you, but I’ve never tried them. I have to say, I’m surprised that your husband’s blood sugar is hanging in so well for not eating anything. It’s actually in normal range!

  • Robin (Masshole Mommy)

I think I would get headaches from doing this, too. For me it would be the lack of caffeine I think.

  • Tara

OMG congrats on making it to 3 days that can be the toughest 3 days ever! And im so glad to hear you are juicing your own fresh juices that is soooo much more beneficial then just drinking juice from a container! Congrats!
