New Year, New healthy family resolutions with Stonyfield and Recipe!

“As a Team Stonyfield ambassador, I am being compensated. All opinions are always my own!”

Berry-Creamy-popcake It’s the start of a new year and to be honest I’m glad to have a fresh start. Every year I make resolutions and this year I have kept the same one as last but have added new ones as well. Last year I did not feel healthy at all, always in a slump and so fatigued. I know the way that we were eating did not help at all! This year I want to change that and I want my family to be part of my resolutions this year. My resolutions include:

  • The whole family sits together at meal times.

Life is so busy these days and with so much going it’s really hard to get everyone around the table at the same time. Eating together as a family gives that opportunity to talk about the day without outside distractions like TV’s and Cellphones.

  • Exercise together as a family 1-2 times per week.

Again life seems to be so busy these days and being in a household of 7 it’s a challenge to get everyone to exercise. This year so far we’ve been enjoying these mild Winter days taking walks around the block and when it snows playing outside with the fresh snow.

  • Lose weight!

Both my husband and I started a Weight loss journey this year. I have a lot of weight to lose and my husband has a few pounds he wants to lose. I have really let myself go by taking care of everyone else but have realized that to take care of them I also need to take care of me! By eating healthier and exercising I have lost 9lbs so far this year. Woot woot! =)

  • Out with the old and in with the new! Eating healthier.

We donated food that wasn’t really considered healthy at the end of last year and replaced that with healthier food. It’s so easy to pop a microwavable meal in the microwave or use prepared meals to feed my family but I want better for them. This year we are eating lean meats, fresh fruits and veggies, more yogurt and as much organic foods as we can. One of my favorite organic companies is Stonyfield. My kiddos love how they offer so many different types of yogurt to eat on the go and I love eating their yogurt as well and using it in recipes whenever I can.

So here’s to a new year and a healthier us.

The kiddos wanted something sweet the other day so we made up little Pop Cakes instead of regular cake. It’s a very simple recipe. Enjoy! =)

Berry Creamy PopCakes

  • 3/4 cup Stonyfield Smooth & Creamy Lowfat French Vanilla yogurt
  • 1 1/2 cups Frozen or fresh berries
  • 4 Multigrain Pop Cakes
  • 4 packets of Sugar or sweetener that you want to use

We made our Pop Cakes 2 different ways, one with blended berries and one without. If you want to use blended berries blend in a little chopper or blender until smooth.

Next lay a Pop Cake on the center of a dish and gently spread the yogurt on top. Top with the blended berries or whole berries. Add a dollop of yogurt onto that and sprinkle your sugar or sweetener on top and enjoy!

The kiddos really loved this and can’t wait to make it again.

My kids go CRAZY over simple yogurt and fruit!! I usually throw in some crumbled cookies or just give them yogurt with some fresh raw honey stirred in!

  • Lori Popkewitz Alper

What a clever idea! We buy pop cakes at Whole Foods all the time. I have to admit on their own they’re a bit dry. Adding berries and yogurt is genius! Can’t wait to try this out. I’m sure my kids will love it.
