Out with the old and in with the new! New changes for 2015!

Hi everyone and thanks for stopping by. I hope 2014 was a great year for you. Unfortunately for our family we had more downs then ups. We made it through the tough times and really hope this year brings us better news and experiences.

With the start of a new year I always make a new resolution per say but of course I never seem to stick to it very long. This year instead of picking a resolution I’m choosing to make a couple of changes in my life.

One of the changes on my list is weight-loss and I mean a lot of weight loss. I’m at the heaviest I have ever been in my life and feel so unhealthy. Years ago I was diagnosed with Fibro and Psoriatic Arthritis and it really does a number on my level of energy and quality of life. I know being overweight does not help at all and I want to feel healthy and alive again. Life gets so busy having a large family and sit down meal times with healthy home cooked meals can get challenging. It was so much easier cooking prepared meals, frozen dinners and getting take-out. This year I want it to be different. I want all of us to eat better and enjoy a home cooked meal every evening together.

On New Year’s Eve I boxed up all the food in our home that would not be considered “healthy foods”  and donated them to the local food cupboard. This way I could help others in need and at the same time get rid of tempting food that was in the cupboards. I replaced that food with fresh fruits and veggies, 100% whole wheat bread instead of white, lean meats, a few organic products and other staples we needed in the house.

It’s been five days and so far things have gone pretty well. I am really loving spending more time in the kitchen with my family and making new meals we haven’t tried before and switching out ingredients for healthier ones. Just the other day we made an apple yogurt loaf and it came out really good. =)

Stonyfield The other big change that is going to occur this year is to my BLOG. For over 2 years now my blog has specifically been geared towards product reviews and giveaways. Although I loved getting multiple packages on the door step and having them pile up in my office to review, it was way to time-consuming. I wanted to post more personal posts but there was always the next review waiting to be posted. I love my blog and it makes me happy but this year it’s going to change. There will be less reviews and more personal posts of Recipes, DIY projects, Family life with our 5 kiddos and amongst all I will be focusing on a Weight loss journey that my husband and I have started Jan. 1st, 2015.  Each week will offer a new post regarding the Weight loss and weigh-ins and the struggles that may occur. Along with those posts during the week I will be posting about the other topics as well. There will be reviews here and there but they will mostly focus on our Weight loss journey, healthy food and beauty.

    Good luck on your weight loss journey! Having someone doing the same exact thing as you really does help, and speaking about it online makes you accountable and more likely to stick to your plans/goals. My brother and I are weight loss-get fit partners, and we really motivate each other. It makes a lot of difference in reaching goals and staying to task. My 2015 goal is just to be more productive….and get my driver’s license.

    Being healthy this time around is also one of my goal for 2015. Last year the goal was to loose some weight and did it. 🙂

    Good for you, and I truly know about the weight roller coaster. Sounds like a plan to me. One big change I did was to buy nothing, but fresh or frozen veggies. No more canned for me. There’s so much sodium in those cans they blow my feet & legs up. Thanks for sharing.

    Good Luck with the chances you want for 2015. 2014 wasn’t the greatest year, but all you can really do is move and make the next year better. I really love the stoneyfield yogurt, that stuff is so freaking tasty! I like to eat it with some fresh fruit and granola tossed in.

    I’m trying to do the same as you, especially making switches in the kitchen for healthier alternatives. I am loving using yogurt in some recipes to replace fattier ingredients!

    I am right there with you. Heaviest I have ever been. I have PCOS which makes it hart to lose the weight. I also have degenerative disc disease and osteoarthritis in my hips, which makes exercise pretty sucky. But, I have to make some changes this year. I am going to be 40 this summer and I don’t want to spend the 2nd half of my life like this.

    I’m cheering you on with your new changes. I have had problems with my back due to some weight gain in 2014 and even though it’s only 7 lbs, the pain is unbearable.     I will be changing with weight loss this year too.after baby #6 it’s proven to be a bit harder for me. I won’t be too strict but I need to make changes and healthier choices!
