Spreading kindness this cold and flu season

spin-kindness  Cold and flu season is among us and I’m on a mission to help spread kindness. I was so excited when I learned that I would be receiving a Kindness kit full of Boogie Wipes and other items to help with my mission.

I’m not an extreme social butterfly but I do like showing kindness when I can. I’m always holding doors open for others, giving a helping hand when needed, and donating items. I’ve made a couple of baskets here and there to give to others but never to this extent.

My children and I gathered some other items from our home along with the Kindness kit and spent the day putting different type of bags and totes together that would be perfect for moms and dads, the elderly, kiddos and anyone really.

We had so much fun making each bag because they were all made the way we wanted to put them together.

My kiddos had school vacation this past week so we spent some time away from the house excited to spread kindness in our community.

While we were shopping, one of my daughters and I decided to leave a little bag that contained a potty seat cover, a diaper and a package of Boogie Wipes in one of the family bathrooms. As a parent myself I have definitely been in a pinch and really needed a diaper for my kiddos in the past so we thought this would be a great way to share some kindness.

We also passed out some goodie bags to both moms and kiddos while shopping in the stores. While exiting one of the stores we were shopping at we let the kiddos donate some loose change into the Salvation Army Kettle and I gave the bell ringers a bag that contained Boogie Wipes and some packages of organic tea. I’ve volunteered to ring the bell for Salvation Army when I was younger and it can get pretty cold outside.

One of my favorite acts of kindness on this mission was making up one of the tote bags for one of my elderly neighbors. We moved to this area just a short time ago and she has been so caring and nice to us from day one. She has no children of her own and is always telling me how lucky I am with being blessed with 5 of my own. My husband walked over next door to greet her as her and her husband had just got home. She told my husband I didn’t have to do that for her but by the way my husband said she smiled she really loved the gesture.

My kiddos had such a great time they asked if we could save some out so they could take one to their teacher when they went back to school this week.

I have to say this was a great experience and something I will continue to do. It feels so good to make others smile and know that we did random acts of kindness. Unfortunately I see people everyday out and about that seem depressed, upset or even downright angry, sometimes I am one of those people. I have come to realize that no one really knows what a stranger may be going through and to show them some sort of kindness could really make their day.
