Troubleshooting Garden Issues

“Contributed Post”

I do love gardening, but that’s not to say that the garden is without its problems. In fact, if you’re not careful the garden can be a disaster zone with plenty of different issues that need solving. Not to worry though because on this post we’re going to troubleshoot them, tackling garden terrors one by one and getting yours back in great shape. Okay, let’s start by thinking about the trouble with flooding.

Wet And Wild

If your garden is looking a tad damp and soggy, it’s quite possible that the water isn’t draining away as it should. As well as being aesthetically unpleasing, it can also drown your plants and other areas of your garden that you’d probably like to keep dry. The answer to this issue is landscaping. With landscaping, you can reconstruct the garden to ensure that water does flow away as it should. An extra tip would be to make sure that water is flowing away from the home, not towards it. Otherwise, you might find yourself with a few damp walls in your basement. It’s not the end of the world, but it can lead to mold because water will be pressing on the foundations of your home.

Of course, the other possibility is that water isn’t flowing away properly because the soil is too dense. For this issue, you need to think about adding a permeable solution underneath your garden. While an expensive change, it might just be worth it if you’re tired of your garden looking like a swamp.

Darn Weeds

Do you hate seeing weeds pop up in your garden? The simplest solution would be to pull them out as and when they appear. But, this can still be quite a nuisance so you might want to look at some of the common causes of weeds overgrowing a garden. Do you have a pond? If you do, weeds and other pesty plants might be growing because your water is leaking out of it, making the surrounding soil the perfect breeding ground for them. This is why pond liners are essential for any pond. They’ll trap the water inside, ensuring you don’t have an issue with a wet surrounding area. It’s just one of the issues that can cause weeds to grow. Not mowing the lawn regularly enough will have a similar effect and let the annoying pests thrive.

Too Many Animals

Some people love animals in their back garden, and others hate them. It can be particularly problematic if you have pets because they become either prey or predator. So, you might want to do everything you can to avoid animals becoming attracted to your garden. The best option here would be to keep your garden neat and tidy. If you do this, it won’t be a pleasant environment for animals. You should also be careful about scattering food across your lawn. Some people do this for the birds, but it can attract unwanted attention too.

These are just some of the issues you can encounter in your backyard. Hopefully, this helps you solve them.
