Weight Loss Journey Week 3!

weight loss, weight, goals, weight loss journey, 2016, rockin body, exercise, fruits, veggies, organicHey everyone! Thanks for stopping by and checking out how my husband and I did this week. We are on week 3 of our weight loss journey for this year. I have to say the first couple of weeks were pretty great. Our bodies were getting rid of all the crap that we had eaten at our favorite take out places, soda, sugar and who knows what else. We have been drinking a lot more water and I felt more energetic and healthier.

For some reason on the third week I was really tired, I still felt more energetic but found myself getting tired more easily again. Feeling like taking a nap which always happened before. I’m not sure if it is because of my Fibromyalgia or not but I’m assuming so. Either way I have still kept chugging right along, eating home cooked meals from scratch and keeping the food I consume as natural as it can be and drinking tons of water.

My husbands blood sugar is still staying down compared to normal and he’s thinking now that he can just not take insulin. Recap on that, my husband has been taking oral meds for his diabetes for years now but in the past few months the meds were not doing anything anymore and his numbers have been so high in the 300’s and his doc put him on insulin. He went out and got everything he needed to start injections but wanted to wait it out and see how eating different would help. His numbers are now between 98 and less than 200. So he’s hoping that he can just skip the injections if he does not need them.

I’m really glad that we are working together on this because we spent so many years eating unhealthy at times and we need to focus on our health so we can enjoy the rest of our lives.

Time for weigh in… This week I’m a little confused about, not with my numbers but my hubbies. I am down another 2 lbs making a total weight loss this year down 13lbs. My hubby was actually up 3 lbs from last week so not really sure what happened there. He hasn’t given up hope though and I myself don’t think he needs to lose weight but to just get healthier so not losing for this week seems okay to me because eating healthy is what’s important too.

Join us next week to see how week 4 goes…

Glad to hear you and your hubby are working together. I think that is what I need to do so that my SO stays on track too. Curious to know how come his weight went up. Do you weight in at the same time during the day?

  • HilLesha

Congratulations on your progress! I find weight loss stories inspiring, especially since I’ve been trying to lose at least 25 lbs. lately.

It’s great how your doing this together! Most couples share poor eating habits, so it only makes sense to make those changes in eating healthy part of your lifestyle together. My hubs and I did the same, he lost over 100lbs and doesn’t need high blood pressure meds anymore. Your both doing great! Good luck on your journey for a healthier lifestyle!

  • Chrystal | Nevermore Lane

Weight loss peaks and valleys are pretty normal and it is not uncommon to not have a loss one week. Usually there was a huge loss the week before or there will be one the week after. You guys are both doing awesome!

  • Rebecca Swenor

Great job on your weight loss this week. You are probably right about the fibromyalgia making you tired/ fatigued . I know I have been having trouble this past two weeks with it. You both are achieving your goal of getting healthier and this is what matters.

Congrats on the weight loss! It can be difficult losing weight. Even if your hubby’s weight went up, it’s not a bad thing. As long as you keep eating right and exercising you’re going to see some great results. Keep up the great work!

My hubby is the same with this blood sugar when he eats right it is fine.

That’s great progress. Don’t worry about your husband’s weight, it does fluctuates.

It would be amazing if your husband does not have to take the insulin. You are making great progress. I look forward to your next check in.

  • Valerie

It is so great that you both are working on this together. It makes dieting so much easier when you have someone to do it with.

  • Katalina @ Peas & Peonies

  • Julie (xfallenmoon)

  • Jessica Simms

Congrats on your progress, I know it’s normal to get tired more often when dieting and exercising. Your body is put through more stress and it’s normal consumption of foods is lower, so there for it is pulling from your fat supplies which is a good thing woohoo! So glad to see your progress thus far! Keep up the good work!

  • alexandria

I love that you and your huz are doing this together. It always help me too if my husband and I are on the same page. With anything, really. Good luck on everything.

  • Jesica H

Keep up the positive attitude, and keep on trucking! I bet it feels great 🙂 Maybe your hubby is just gaining some muscle, its sweet of you to encourage him and love him just the way he is!

  • Miles L.

It’s great to get rid of body toxins through exercise. I’m glad you’re finding the joy in what you do.

  • Erica Brooks

Good progress. Your body is going through changes so it’s normal to be a little tired. Yay on losing 2lbs! I agree that it’s more about being healthy than the numbers on the scale but it sure does feel great seeing them go down doesn’t it. 🙂

  • Megan Elford

You guys are doing great! I wouldn’t worry about your hubby’s gain – I’m sure his body is just readjusting to different eating habits and so on. I always gain a pound or two and then start going down again. It all balances out in the end 🙂

  • Sicorra@NotNowMomsBusy

Congrats! That is a lot to lose in a short time frame.

And smart of your husband to change his diet instead of starting insulin. A few changes and you can actually control your blood sugar levels naturally.

  • Kelli @ 3 Boys and a Dog

Thank you for sharing your story! Its hard to manage diabetes, and its hard to diet. But when you throw the two together it makes it tougher. best of luck to both of you and push through!
